Foo Fighters: Oklahoma 2020
Foo Fighters: Oklahoma 2020
I started working on this print in February. The excitement to work on this 25th anniversary of their first tour was pretty overwhelming. Nirvana was a very important part of my personal history, so the news of Dave doing something new was beyond exciting to a young Angryblue. Who knew that performance on Letterman with a handmade REVENGE FOR TAD shirt would turn into the following legacy?
The celebratory-themed art direction we poster nerds got was to potentially use their tour van (Big Red Delicious) and a 1995 nod to a major event or landmark in the city.
I told them that considering my tour date, they absolutely did not want that poster. So, had to figure out another direction to have a nod to 1995 and figured a wink at what got me into this world made a lot of sense and was a lot more fun - especially with a thumbs-up to the This is a Call single.
Naturally, all of our big plans got canceled. We’ve (band and artists) pivoted a few times on how these were to be released and then just decided to do it anyway and celebrate the tour that wasn’t! Their announcement comes after the visual artists. let’s do this!
