The moment I heard that Metallica was going to be playing in town, let alone the Yum! Center, I knew I needed to make this poster happen.

Part of this design is paying homage to poster artist friends I met at my first Flatstock in 2007: Print Mafia. They are fellow Kentuckians who have been doing iterations of a ‘Skull Sanders’ for years. I made sure to ask my buds if it was cool that I stepped on their toes and paid some homage to them.

This is based off of a vintage advertisement. I decided that the all-American family needed to be swapped out for the cast of Mad Men as it’s a top favorite show of mine after Connie from PM let me know how much I was missing out by not finishing it while it was airing.
